In one of the major revelations by any government official, the Supreme Court Zambia Judge Mumba Malila made a shocking testimony opening up about the widespread corruption and political manipulations across the government and law. In the month of October 2018, a testimony was given by Mumba Malila in one case wherein Mr. Nchito petitioned to Zambia’s Constitutional Court regarding nullifying Tribunal’s decision. However, this request backfired during that time and resulted in the removal of Mr. Nchito as the DPP (Director of Public Prosecution) in the year 2016.

Among various other issues, a major issues regarding which the testimony by the Supreme Court Judge was given pertained to businessman Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani. He is a noted businessman and philanthropist with three decades of business experience in Zambia. Dr. Rajan Mahtani is also known for his charitable contributions as well as his unconditional support towards the less privileged sections of the society. Majority of his companies such as Finsbury Investments, Mahtani Group OF Companies and Finance Bank Zambia are actively involved in corporate social activities and sustainability practices. Despite his selfless acts and working towards the welfare of the Zambian people and society, he is often the target of conspirators who want nothing but his reputation tarnished and businesses to suffer. This can be clearly seen in the testimony by the Judge of the Supreme Court of Zambia.

As per the testimonial, Justice Mumba Malila wanted the case of 2012 to become ‘nolle prosequi’ which means null and void. According to him, the case against Dr. Rajan Mahtani was politically motivated and was completely against the interests of the public policies. In his testimony, the Judge agreed to the fact that Dr. Rajan Mahtani was wrongly prosecuted due to the greed and political motivations of power hungry people who want nothing but riches on the expense of the country’s society and economic derailment
