Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani is among the most successful and celebrated businessman in Zambia. He is noted for his honesty, ethical business practices and professionalism. Dr. Mahtani has been a citizen of Zambia for more than thirty years and during this time, he has successfully created numerous noted business ventures within the Zambian nation. Some of these ventures include Mahtani Group of Companies, Finsbury Investments and Finance Bank Zambia. His companies are also known for their focus towards the underprivileged sections of the society, by either providing them with employment opportunities or ensuring growth of their living style. Apart from successfully establishing companies, Dr. Mahtani is also known for his charitable and philanthropic activities. Over the course of his stay in Zambia, Dr. Mahtani has contributed to numerous NGOs and environmental activities.

Zambezi Portland Cement

One of the establishments created by Dr. Rajan Mahtani is Portland Cement Zambia. The cement factory is currently being contested by two parties, one of them being Dr. Rajan Mahtani. Dr. Mahtani has claimed that he is the legal owner of the factory. The factory was illegally taken over from him almost ten years ago and since then, Dr. Mahtani has been fighting case at the Lusaka High Court. Over the course of this ten year period, Dr. Mahtani and his lawyers have submitted numerous evidences to support his claim. Some of these critical evidences included signed shareholder’s agreement, financial exhibits and investment reports. Another important critical document shared by Dr. Mahtani was independent audit report conducted by an independent auditor. As per this audit report, the cement factory was established as a joint venture and Dr. Mahtani was the sole joint venture partner of the factory.

Despite these strong evidences, the final judgment was given against Dr. Mahtani’s claims. This was a shocking judgment and as of now, Dr. Mahtani has registered another appeal at the Higher Court of Appeal against the miscued judgment at the Lusaka high court
